It’s the moment the aristocracy have been waiting for: Rolls-Royce has unveiled its new, and oh-so-mildly improved, Phantom and Phantom Extended Wheelbase. Changes have been made both inside and out for 2009. This will be the first time the stately Phantom has been properly updated since its arrival in 2003.
THE SEVEN CARS that will battle it out to become European Car of the Year (ECOTY) 2014 have been announced. Decided on by a jury of 53 motoring journalists from across Europe, the shortlists is made up of the BMW i3, Citroen C4 Picasso, Mazda 3, Mercedes S-Class, Peugeot 308, Skoda Octavia and Tesla Model S. This is the first time the ECOTY shortlist of contenders has included two electric vehicles with the BMW i3 and Tesla Model S.
The 10 Formula E cars arrive at Donnington
No one knows if the Formula E experiment – an ‘F1′ Grand Prix series for electric racing cars – will garner the same sort of interest as its ICE counterpart, but with the first Formula E race scheduled for Beijing in September we’ll soon find out. Ahead of that debut race, Renault and Spark Technologies has delivered the teams their cars – all the same Spark Renault SRT_01E – to the Formula E base at Donnington. After a series of tests at a variety of circuits earlier this year, the Spark Renault SRT_01E passed all its final systems and architecture tests, which has allowed this first batch of the final series cars to be delivered for the teams to practice ahead of the race.
